Know your rights
Right to receive full salary on time▼
Under labor legislation in the UAE (WPS), Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain, employers are legally mandated to transfer wages without unauthorized deductions. Delayed salary beyond statutory periods allows you to lodge immediate grievances and switch jobs without sponsor approval under specified labor regulations.
Right to hold and keep your own passport▼
Confiscating an employee's passport is strictly illegal in all GCC jurisdictions. Your passport is official sovereign state property. Employers cannot retain your passport as leverage for visa cancellation or resignation settlement.
Right to file complaints without government fees▼
Filing official labor grievances with MOHRE (UAE), MHRSD (Saudi Arabia), the Ministry of Labour (Oman), or LMRA (Bahrain) is completely free of charge for workers. You do not need to hire expensive private lawyers to initiate claims.
Right to safe working conditions & medical support▼
Employers must provide mandatory health insurance coverage, hazard-free working environments, and adhere to mandatory midday summer work bans in high heat periods. Injuries on the job must be compensated according to statutory injury indemnity tables.
Right to unhindered embassy and consular access▼
You have an internationally protected right under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations to communicate with and seek assistance from your nation's diplomatic mission at any time without employer interference.
